Larry,
Sorry to hear about your mom. I have fond memories playing softball with the South Plainfield League when I was in high school. I played on the team with your mom and your sister, Phyllis.
She was a wonderful and talented woman. I remember she sewed some outfit me too!
Peace,
Fran (Breuning) Davis

Let me just start by saying my Grandma was one of my biggest cheerleaders. She was at every basketball game I ever played and I loved winning my state championship for her to watch in high school. I loved food shopping with her and she taught me the value of a penny! Whenever I clip coupons I think of her. I also learned to love vegetables because of her and my Grandfather. In the summer my favorite thing to do at my Grandma's house was sell vegetables on Hamilton Blvd. from my Grandparent's garden. I still love baking, cooking, sewing, and growing gardens because of their powerful influence. I hope to be just as strong, loving, and compassionate like my Grandma. I will miss her everyday and these last couple years seeing her in her state was really difficult for me especially because I knew her as a active, independent person. I am happy to know that my Grandma is now in heaven with my Grandpa laughing and loving life again. My heart is with you always. Love you and will miss you!

I remember when I had this purple dress on with a heart in the middle and grandma was pointing to the heart and told me something about heart shape on my dress. I didn't understand what she was saying, but it made her really happy and she kept trying to tell me something and I think that maybe she had a shirt like that or reminded her of something she had like that. I couldn't understand her, but I knew she was happy and that made me happy. I also have this doll she made by hand and I look at the bottom of the dolls dress and it says where ever you go what ever you do be happy and know that I love you. When I hold my doll it reminds me of her and how much I love her and miss her. I love you great grandma love Cailin.

My sisters and I had the incredible privilege and honor of being blessed with two amazing grandmothers. We lost Gilda a little over a year ago and now God has brought Selma home as well. I can't begin to acknowledge all the wonderful ways that my life has been enriched and helped to shape the person I have become because of her continued presence in my childhood and adult life. Without her here in the physical world our hearts are heavy, our vision is blurred by streaming tears, however our memories are strong and vibrant. I can still hear her voice cheering us on, teaching me to cook sew, singing to Declan after he got out of the NICU, IN the rocking chair when she gave us a place to live, late nights drinking herbal tea giving me advice, helping me coach my first cheering team at SHS, and always being available to anyone at anytime at the kitchen table. I miss you so very much, we all do. We've got a wonderful angel in heaven at Pop's side cheering us on. Love you to the moon and back!

The 1st pizza I ever ate was one Aunt Selma made at my house. Remember her making another bridesmaid's dress for Betsy at Phyllis' wedding. That meant a trip to N.Y. city to buy fabric 1st. What a seamstress!!! I would say she worked well under pressure. What a fine wife to Uncle Lawrence, and mother to her 4 children, and fine aunt to me and many others. I know that she was loved by her grandchildren, and great grand children as well. I remember, too her making ravioli for us when we visited N.J. in 1986. Your loss and ours is Heaven's gain. Sincerely, Cheryl
