Born on February 8, 1937 to Ernest A. Lear, Sr. and Mary Cameron Braidwood Lear, Ernie grew up in South Plainfield, NJ. He attended North Plainfield High School where, in his sophomore year, he met his wife of over 63 years, Rose Marie Lear (nee Faso). Together they raised a family in Piscataway, NJ. Ernie had many different interests and hobbies. He enjoyed music and played both drums and guitar and instilled his love for music in his children.
Ernie developed a fondness for trucks and driving them when, as a teen, he began delivering milk for Frank’s Dairy. He went on to enjoy a long career in the trucking industry where he held many different positions. Ernie was a Ford man through and through, recently restoring a 1960 Ford Super Duty F-1000 tractor similar to a vehicle he drove early in his career. He enjoyed attending truck shows where he proudly displayed this vehicle.
Ernie enjoyed hunting, coached little league, and was an active member of the Piscataway Superchief Band Parents Association for over 15 years where he and Rose Marie made many life-long friends. Ernie was a prankster who loved to have fun and make people laugh. He was outgoing, generous, and had a special gift for making people feel loved and important.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Marie, his five devoted children, Michael, Kenneth, Susan, Nancy and Matthew, his grandchildren Jennifer, David, Charles, Joseph, Catherine, and his great-grandchildren Natalie and Declan; his sister Joan, his brother-in-law Peter and his wife Beverly and many nieces, nephews and friends who will dearly miss him.
