Obituary of Georgia Chrysanthopoulos

South Plainfield - Georgia Chrysanthopoulos, 102, died on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Greece, Georgia came to the United States in 1951. She was a resident of Plainfield, NJ for over 30 years where she was a devoted wife and mother. A longtime member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, Mrs. Chrysanthopoulos enjoyed playing card games and loved her soap operas and especially "I Love Lucy". She is predeceased by her beloved husband, three siblings and three sons. Surviving are two sons, Peter and his wife Theodora of East Brunswick and Paul and his wife Sara of South Plainfield, daughters in law, Vasiliki, Sophia and Kathy;12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who she was like a mother to. She was a matriarch to many who leaves behind a legacy that will last for many generations to come. Visitation will begin at 10AM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1101 River Rd., Piscataway with an 11AM funeral service to follow. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
