South Plainfield - Franklin E. Elmquist Jr., 76, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Robert Wood University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.
Born in Ridgway, PA, Franklin settled to South Plainfield in 1963. A hard worker, he was employed with R & C Auto Body for forty years prior to his retirement in 2010.
A former speed skater, Franklin was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in South Plainfield. He also enjoyed collecting trains and spending his Sundays taking picture of them.
Surviving are his wife and best friend of 51 years, Barbara Van Luvender; daughter, Linda Elmquist - Martin both of South Plainfield; two sisters, Cheryl Cunningham and Cindy Hickman; brother, Howard Elmquist, grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may attend visitation on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 4-7PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. A funeral service will begin on Friday at 6:45PM.
Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
