Obituary of James Dimestria

Somerset - James Dimestria, "Jimmy Dee" 85, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Newark, Jimmy resided in Linden and South Plainfield for many years prior to relocating to Somerset in 2008. Mr. Dimestria was employed as a buyer for former Vornado in Hanover and during WWII served with the U.S. Army. Jimmy had a love for music and enjoyed playing the saxophone. A passionate NY Giants football fan, Mr. Dimestria was particularly close with his nephew Nicholas Higgins. The two enjoyed their regular chat about Giants games along with other various conversations In addition, Jimmy was extremely proud of his niece; NYPD officer Dana Marie Alesso for her accomplishment in becoming a police officer for the City of New York. He is predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years Loretta (Balconis), his sister Anna Hanas and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with many additional relatives and friends. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:30AM at St. Mary of Mt. Virgin RC Church, New Brunswick. A Memorial Gathering for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 6-9PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
