Obituary of Patricia Tomei

Patricia Tomei South Plainfield - Patricia (Annicchiarico) Tomei, 82, died on Friday, February 3, 2012 at home. Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Tomei settled to South Plainfield in 1960. She worked at the former Bradlees department store for 20 years before the store closed. A longtime communicant of Sacred RC Church in South Plainfield, Mrs. Tomei was a member of the South Plainfield Senior Citizens and loved her trips to Atlantic City. Pat was well known throughout the boro of South Plainfield. For several years, she volunteered at the voting polls during election time, was a former CCD teacher, a former cafeteria aide at the Kennedy Elementary School and also served as a Boy Scout Den Mother. Mrs. Tomei was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her entire family, loved to laugh and enjoyed helping others. She is predeceased by her husband Ray Tomei Sr. who died in 1993. Surviving are her six children; her daughter Rosanne Balzer (Stephen) of South Plainfield and her sons; Raymond Jr. (Marisol) of Phillipsburg, Steven (Lori) of Piscataway, Joseph (Lisa) of Manchester and Mark "Mel" (Wendy) and David (Dawn) all of South Plainfield, her sister Bernie Sansonetti (Fred ) of FL and her brother Joseph (Mindy) of FL. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery Mausoleum, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 3-8 PM in the funeral home.
