South Plainfield - Joseph Mantz, 82, died on Sunday, November 3, 2013 in at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown.
Born and raised in Newark Joe settled to South Plainfield in 1966.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Mantz was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
Joe worked for the former Hyatt Roller Bearing in Clark as a set up technician for 37 years and currently he was working as a part time delivery man for the Twin City Pharmacy in South Plainfield. In addition, Mr. Mantz was also a crossing guard at the former Sacred Heart School now known as the Holy Savior Academy also located in South Plainfield.
Joe served as Past President and Vice President of the UAW Local #736 and was also a member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post 243, the South Plainfield VFW Post 6763 and the South Plainfield Italian American Progressive League.
Joe is predeceased by all of his siblings and is survived by his wife of 59 years Anne "Delores" (Monahan), his daughter Nancy Jakubik and her husband Michael and his son Joseph Mantz and his wife Susan all of South Plainfield. Also surviving are his four grandchildren; Jamie, Michael, Randy and Joseph Jakubik.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2013 beginning at 4pm followed Funeral Services and rendering of Military Honors beginning at 7:30pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Cremation Services will be held privately.
