Obituary of Josephine H. Blackford

South Plainfield - Josephine H. (Zywicki) Blackford, 87, died on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.
Born and raised in Perth Amboy, Mrs. Blackford settled to South Plainfield in 1953.
Along with her late husband Charles, Josephine was the co-founder and operator of South Plainfield's original taxi service called Blackford Taxi. Later, she worked at the former Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center's Coffee Shop in Plainfield and for five years worked as a crossing guard at the corner of Park Ave and Oakmanor Parkway.
Josephine was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and in addition to her late husband, Mrs. Blackford is also predeceased by her three sisters and one brother.
Surviving are her two sons; Charles and his wife Carolyn of Tabernacle and Paul and his wife Karen of South Plainfield. Also surviving are her five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Brandon, Lindsay, Christopher and Andrew.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 9:15am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 6-9PM in the funeral home.
