Obituary of Allen P. Poczak

South Plainfield - Allen P. Poczak, 54, died on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at home. __ Born in Elizabeth to the late Rudolph and Marlene Mitchell, Allen grew up in South Plainfield and was a graduate of Gil-St. Bernard High School. He later graduated from Rutgers and DeVry Institute which led to his employment as a computer Analyst for the Department of Defense in Arlington Va. He had resided in Maryland, Virginia, Nevada and California before returning home in 2001 to care for his parents. Allen enjoyed playing baseball while at Rutgers and being an avid NY Jets fan. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America as well as a member and volunteer with the South Plainfield Knights of Columbus. A faithful communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church, Allen assisted with their Special Persons Mass monthly. He also volunteered in Virginia with blind children. Allen is predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda McCarthy, surviving are his dear life long friends, John and Steve and a host addition friends. Those wishing to pay tribute to Allen may do so at his visitation on Friday August 29, 2014 in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 beginning at 10AM until Allen's funeral service at Noon. Burial will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, NJ.
