Ruth A. Gilburn
South Plainfield - Ruth A. Gilburn, 80, died suddenly on Monday, September 12, 2011 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Colonia, she lived in Westfield and has been a resident of South Plainfield since 1959.
Ruth retired as an Executive Secretary where she worked for several companies throughout the years, most recently retiring from Lindquist Steel in South Plainfield in 2002. A devout catholic, Ruth was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield and belonged to their Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Mothers Club of St. Joe's in Metuchen and formerly of the PTA of South Plainfield .
She is predeceased by her husband John Gilburn, Sr. who died in 1995 and by her sister Jeanne Schreiber.
Ruth leaves behind her children; Patricia Wagner and her husband Robert of Middlesex, John F. Gilburn, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Manalapan and Kevin P. Gilburn of South Plainfield. She was known as "Nanny" to her seven grandchildren; Robert and Ryan Wagner and Caitlin, Meghan, Jack, James and Erin Gilburn.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 16, 2011 beginning 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday, September 15, 2011 from 5-9 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until the service.
