Obituary of Kay E. Sikanowicz

South Plainfield - Kay Elizabeth (Grube) Sikanowicz, 77, died suddenly with her daughter Kathryn by her side on Friday, February 14, 2014 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Pomona, NJ.
Born and raised in Bethlehem, PA, Kay had lived in Plainfield before settling to South Plainfield in the 1950's .
She initially worked for the Borough of South Plainfield in the Tax Office and later opted to stay at home and raise her four children. She was also instrumental in assisting the operation of the family business, Colonial Fence Company of South Plainfield, as well as being a Mary Kay Cosmetics Director.
A true mother in every way, Kay loved her family deeply and her grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be sadly missed, but forever known as an excellent cook who loved to entertain and feed her guests.
Kay enjoyed traveling, going on cruises, trips to Atlantic City, Disney World and crocheting. She also enjoyed bowling and golfing. Her most recent enjoyment was her weekly poker playing "with her girls".
She is a former member of the Suburban Women's Club and the South Plainfield P.B.A. Women's Auxiliary.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Eugene " Gooch" Sikanowicz, who died in 2009, a
sister, Susie LiCausi Strawderman who died in 2008, her mother, Kathryn Helen, and her father, Russell Charles.
Surviving are four children; Kathryn, Michael and his wife, Mary, Sandra and Thomas Sikanowicz, sister, Connie Marsh and brother Michael Grube.
Also surviving are her dear grandchildren; Michael Jr, Erin and Zachary Sikanowicz, Matthew Rasmussen, Tyler and Troy Jackson and Thomas Scott, Taylor and Channing Sikanowicz. She also had a special place in her heart for Kendall Jackson.
Funeral services will begin on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 11:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Interment will follow alongside her husband at the family plot in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Thursday from 3-7 PM and on Friday morning beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
She was the best Mom anyone could ever ask for and she will be greatly loved and missed forever...oxoxo
