Thelma "Jeannie" Cerkvenik
South Plainfield - Thelma "Jeannie" (Klippel) Cerkvenik, 68, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully at her home on Monday, March 28, 2011.
Born and raised in Staten Island, Jeannie had resided in Rahway and Pennsylvania for a short time before settling to South Plainfield in 2004.
She had worked as a caretaker at the Menlo Park Veterans Memorial Home in Edison and more recently at Runnell's Hospital. During the late 1960's, she had worked as an underwriter for the Home Insurance Co.
Jeannie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being a homemaker for most of her life, cooking and baking for her family. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with her two dogs, Blu and Cortney
She is predeceased by her dear husband, Joseph, who died in 2009 and will be missed dearly by her four surviving children and their spouses, Joseph and Vicki, Susan and Stefan Cordes, Linda and Patrick Szary and Adam and Jocelle. Also surviving are three brothers, Denzil, Philip and Robert Klippel, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 beginning at 10:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ., 07080 followed by entombment services in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ.
Family and friends may attend the visitation hours on Friday, April 1, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home and from 10:00 AM until the time for the services on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Plainfield Area Humane Society, 75 Rock Avenue, Plainfield, NJ 07060.
