Kathleen Regenye
Plainfield - Kathleen Regenye, 59, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at home surrounded by her family following a two year battle against brain cancer.
Born in Newark, Kathleen grew up in Iselin and graduated from Colonia High School.
Kathy married Clifford "Nipper" on February 14, 1976 and together they settled to Plainfield in 1979 to begin their lives, raising two daughters.
She had been employed, but was more importantly a stay at home mom. While her daughters attended school, Kathy fulfilled her love of babies by caring for children of close family and friends.
In addition, Kathy also enjoyed spending time doing ceramics, drawing and reading. She was also a talented artist, spending time oil painting.
After Kathy's diagnosis, she and her family created a website, www.givekathyhope.com, where individuals were kept updated and informed of her condition. Kathy found solace and comfort reading the encouraging comments posted, interacting in the blog and most importantly, sending messages to those she loved.
She is predeceased by her father Edgar V. Abrams, who passed in 1982; her sister Stefanie; and a brother, James.
Surviving are her loving husband; Clifford "Nipper" of 36 years, two daughters; Katie and Jess Regenye, two brothers; her twin brother, Michael and Joseph Abrams and her mother, Alice M. Abrams.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080, including a funeral service which will begin at 8:30PM.
Cremation will follow privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Ste 550 Chicago, IL 06031 or visit their website at www.abta.org.
