Obituary of Ronald R. Merrick

Ronald R. Merrick South Plainfield - Ronald R. Merrick, 72, died on Monday, January 21, 2013 at home. Born in Jersey City, Ronald grew up in Bayonne and settled to South Plainfield in 1973. Mr. Merrick served in the U. S. Army from 1959 - 1961 and during that time was stationed in Korea. For 32 years Ron worked for General Motors at the former Linden plant in various capacities. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the South Plainfield American Legion Chaumont Post 243 as well as the South Plainfield B.P.O.E. Elks lodge 2298. An avid cook, Mr. Merrick also enjoyed following the New York Giants, New York Yankees and Rutgers football. Ronald is predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his son Ronald and by three brothers; Thomas, Richard and William. Surviving are his daughters; Jacqueline Taylor and her husband John and Jessica Merrick all of South Plainfield, two brothers; John Merrick and his wife Sandra and James Merrick and his wife Alma all of Bayonne, a sister in-law Jeanette Merrick as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the funeral home
