Edward J. Koenig South Plainfield - Edward J. Koenig, 77, died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center at Rahway. Born in Jersey City, Eddie grew up in the Jersey City and Weehawken area before settling to South Plainfield. He worked for the former Bradock Protective Coating in Bridgewater as a maintenance electrician. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Koenig was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church in South Plainfield and for many years he sold the 50/50 raffle tickets during the Feast of St. Anthony. Eddie enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to Bermuda and Disney World. In addition, he was a member of The Father's Club at St. Joseph's High School in Metuchen. He is predeceased by two sisters; Ellen and Margaret Koenig. Surviving are his loving wife; Barbara, his son Dave Koenig and his wife Lara of Hamburg, a sister; Catherine Alps of Scottsdale, AZ., and his two grandchildren; Kiley and Logan. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:15 AM in the McCriskn - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 12:00 PM funeral mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Cremation services will follow privately. Entombment of his cremated remains will be held privately at a later date in the St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum, Newton. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 3-7 PM in the funeral home.
