Obituary of Leticia Castelblanco

Leticia Castelblanco passed away on Sunday morning October 26, 2014 in the Haven Hospice with in JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Bogota Colombia on Oct. 22 1914 Leticia went to Virgin Maria Auxilidora School. She married Carlos Castelblanco and had four kids: Hector F, Blanca I, Jose R, and Fabio A. She lived in Colombia until 1985, and then she moved to the United States to offer more opportunities for her children and extended family. She has been a resident of Piscataway, NJ for 29 years. Passing away four days after celebrating her 100th birthday, she leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Despite her age, her mind never faltered and she was always aware of what was going on around her. The strength and sharpness of her mind made her passing all the more difficult. After spending a century on this Earth she has touched so many lives, from family and friends. As a homemaker, she encouraged and inspired her children to work hard, genuinely care for others, and live life to the fullest. She was a faithful Catholic women who befriended many clergy members in the US and abroad. In every family celebration she was the life of the party; she told stories of the past, never failed to make her the family laugh, in good times and in bad. Her kind-hearted and gentle nature continues to watch over and protect her family and friends as she watches them from above. Predeceased by her husband, Carlos, daughter Blanca and granddaughter, Claudia and three siblings, Evelia, Ernestina and Joaquin. Surviving are three sons and their wives; Hector and Marcela, Jose and Melba and Fabio and Maria, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, October, 29, 2014 at 9:00 Am in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, North Plainfield at 10 AM. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia. Family and friends may join together for visitation on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 5-9 PM in the funeral home.
