Obituary of Jeanne S. DeFillipo

Jeanne S. DeFillipo Martinsville- Jeanne S. (Russo) DeFillipo, 82, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Brandywine Assisted Living in Bridgewater. Born and raised in Plainfield, Jeanne resided in Bound Brook and South Plainfield prior to settling to Martinsville 25 years ago. Mrs. DeFillipo taught English at the Harding School for 40 years. Over the course of her career Jeanne was active with the school drama club and as a result of her enthusiastic leadership and dedication to the club, the Jeanne DeFillipo Literature Award was established, which today is still active. Jeanne was a genuine and kindhearted woman who touched the lives of many. Often found donating her time to various charities and organizations, she also enjoyed being around children and cherished her time spent with her family and friends. A communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in South Plainfield, Mrs DeFillipo was a member of the Bridgewater Senior Citizens, enjoyed traveling and was fond of the jersey shore. In addition, Jeanne was pet friendly and pampered her dear cat Rugby Joe. She is predeceased by her husband the late Arthur and three brothers; John, Frank, and Michael Russo. Surviving are two devoted nieces; Diane Herring and Teresa of Freehold and her brother Louis and his wife Christine of Tinton Falls. Also surviving are extended relatives of the DeFillipo family, along with several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews as well as her friends at the Bridgewater Brandywine Assisted Living. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
