Obituary of George R. Kappeler

Lakewood - George R. Kappeler, 84, died on Monday, July 22, 2013 at home. Born and raised in Nutley, George lived in South Plainfield for 30 years and Florida for 10 years prior to relocating to Lakewood 10 years ago. George was a graduate of Nutley High School where he played on the football team and excelled at the sport. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Manville VFW Post# 2290. While a residing in South Plainfield, Mr. Kappeler was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church and worked a Machine Designer for the former Engineer Co. He is predeceased by two sisters; Betty Ingels and Mildred Schayer. Surviving are his beloved wife Carol J., two daughters; Carol Provaire of South Plainfield and Nancy Lynch and her husband Edward of Fl., his son Douglas of Lakewood and a sister Marge Travis of West Milford. Also surviving are six grandchildren; Michelle Libassi, Allison Provaire, John-Patrick and Kyle Lynch and Stephanie and Jessica Kappeler. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080, with a funeral services to be held at 4:00 PM. Cremation services will follow privately.
