Obituary of Linda C. Ranger

South Plainfield - Linda Christine Ranger, 61, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at home. Born in Plainfield, Linda has been a lifelong resident of South Plainfield and was a graduate of the high school of '71. She continued her education initially at Middlesex County College and completed her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Trenton State College, now known as The College of NJ in 1975. She later attended Kean University where she earned a Masters Degree in Reading Specialization and Communications. Linda graduated all three colleges Magna Cum Laude. Her 30 Year tenure in Education began with the South Plainfield Board of Education and Linda later found her home in Middletown High School North where she taught until her retirement. She also briefly taught at Thorne Middle School in Middletown. Her passion was English, Drama and T.V. Production. Dedication to her students and drama productions are what she will be remembered for. Linda was a member of the NJEA and enjoyed being a very active person, walking, taking Zumba and Aerobics classes. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and cooking for her family and friends. Among Linda's greatest achievements were the Spring Musicals she produced for South Plainfield High School and Middletown High School North. Only to name a few, they included: Guys and Dolls, Westside Story, Little Shop of Horrors, Once Upon a Mattress, Anything Goes, Grease, and Applause. Linda loved "Theatre". After retirement she appeared at the Edison Valley Playhouse Production of Harold Pinter's "The Birthday Party". She is predeceased by her father, Alfred Ranger, who died in 1997. Al was a well-known and respected teacher and coach. Surviving is her mother; Audrea (Knott) Ranger of South Plainfield, sister; Janet Ranger of Rahway and brother; Ronald Ranger and his wife Diane of South Plainfield and three beloved nieces; Jessica, Danielle and Deanna. Family and friends may attend the visitation on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 am in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
