Obituary of Michael Bocknack

Michael Bocknack Plainfield - Michael Bocknack, 57, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home. Born in New Brunswick, he has resided in Plainfield for several years. Mike was a Corrections Officer at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility in North Brunswick and recently was the owner and operator of "Michael's Kitchen" a local catering company. Known to many as "Big Mike" he was an outgoing individual, had many friends and was adored for his "Gift of Gab." He was an avid dog lover, starting a rescue group called "Rotties 2 The Rescue" where he successfully placed over 120 Rottweilers in loving homes. In addition, he loved to play golf, was a passionate Yankees fan and took pride in coaching all he knew about the game of baseball to his grandson Sean and his teammates. Mike became active with the NJ Sharing Network Foundation after the death of his beloved daughter, Michelle in 2001, at which time she chose to give the gift of life by her donations. With this cause so near and dear, Mike too chose to donate by offering his corneas in the hope of giving the gift of sight to someone in need. He will be sadly missed by his loving partner, Maryann Miller of Plainfield, his daughter Maureen Bocknack of Kendall Park, his 2 grandchildren; Sean and Christian, his step daughter; Carleen Goldeski of South Brunswick and her daughter Lauren, as well as, many extended family and loving friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011 from 6-9pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment and Committal Services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Mausoleum Chapel at Holy Cross Burial Park, (East Brunswick) 840 Cranbury/South River Road, Jamesburg, NJ 08831.
