Mary M. Nelson
South Plainfield, NJ - Mary M. (McCluskey) Nelson, 73, died on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Runnells Specialized Hospital in Berkeley Heights. Born in Plainfield, she has been a resident of South Plainfield most of her life.
Mary graduated from the University of New Jersey (Trenton State) with a bachelors degree in teaching, specializing in special education. She retired in 1997 after teaching kindergarten for over fifteen years for Sacred Heart School in South Plainfield. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was a literacy volunteer for special needs people.
She is predeceased by her siblings Robert McCluskey and Virginia Ashley.
She leaves behind her husband Carl A., her son Carl A. Nelson Jr. of High Bridge and by her siblings; Nan McCluskey of Burlington, VT and Daniel and Hugh McCluskey.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, April 4, 2009 beginning with a 10:00 AM funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in South Plainfield.
Cremation services will take place privately.
Visitation will take place in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In Lieu of flowers, donations to the American Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Denville, NJ 07834 would be appreciated.
