Joseph A. Bazsika South Plainfield - Joseph Andrew Bazsika, born March 21, 1925 to his parents Frank & Mary (Bokor), departed this life on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at the Genesis Elder Care - The Woodlands in Plainfield. Born in Perth Amboy, he had resided there until the late 1950's when he and his wife settled to South Plainfield and have been residents ever since. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Bazsika served during WWII with the 359th infantry Regiment before being honorably discharged in December 1945. He ended his professional career at Lockheed Electronics in Watchung. After retirement, he enjoyed talking to people around the world and around the block on his ham radio, call sign N2NVW. Joseph loved to travel, taking his family on adventures throughout the US, and when his children caught his wanderlust, he visited them in New Zealand, France, Italy and Hungary where he met people with the same last name. An avid fisherman, he loved the water and enjoyed many weekends at his shore house with the dock for his boats and tossing out crab nets. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret (Basarab) Bazsika, his two daughters, Maryann & her husband Bill Mosca of Branchburg, Margaret of Las Vegas, NV. His two sons, James of New Zealand and Joseph Jr., of Thailand. his two sisters, Matilda Fizer and Elenore Heinig. Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Lily, Joseph & Kathryn Mosca, and Matthew & Caroline Bazsika and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 9:30AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, followed by a 10:30 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834. 1-800-272-3900.
