Obituary of Reinhard Rudolf Kiefer

Piscataway - Reinhard Rudolf Kiefer, 85, died Sunday March 11, 2018 at home. Born in Pforzheim, Germany in 1932 to the late Hedwig and Rudolf Kiefer, Rudi immigrated to the United States in the 1950's and found his footing in Oakhurst. After relocating to Irvington for a few years, Rudi settled to Piscataway where he raised his family. A metallurgist for Metz Refining Company in South Plainfield, Rudi was passionate about soccer and was recognized for coaching. He belonged to the Germania Soccer Club in Germany in his younger years and the Newark Sports Club in Farchers Grove where he played center forward. Rudi was also a member of the Deutscher Club in Rahway, an avid gardener and world traveler. Surviving are his wife, Therese Ann (Gutelhofer) in Piscataway, four children Andrea Kiefer and husband Jamie Barker of New York City, Rudy Kiefer and wife Connie of Allentown, NJ, Susanne Sparacio and husband James of Staten Island, NY and Stephanie Kiefer of Sea Girt, NJ; he will also be missed by his grandchildren, Chris, Nicole, Kristen, Jimmy, Kristina and Stephen. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in the Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Road Piscataway NJ 08854 from 1-3:30PM.
