Obituary of Andrew J. Forgash

Andrew J. Forgash Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Rutgers Fan South Plainfield - Andrew J. Forgash PhD, 84, died on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at home. Born and raised in Dunellen, Mr. Forgash resided in South Plainfield for 53 years.He graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Westfield in 1941. Following high school, Mr. Forgash enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served until his honorable discharge in 1944. An Entomology Professor at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, Andrew graduated from Rutgers University in 1949 with a B.S. Degree in Chemistry. A year later in 1950, he earned his Masters Degree in Entomology and in 1952 he earned his PhD in Entomology both from Rutgers University. In 1948 while in seek of his B.S Degree, Andrew started his career at Rutgers as a Research Fellow. After earning his Doctorate and over the course of his 36 year tenure, he held various positions within the Entomology Department at Rutgers University. A member of the Middlesex County Mosquito Commission for 35 years, Mr. Forgash served as treasurer before retiring in 2006. An avid gardener, Giants and Yankees fan, Andrew was also a member of the American Legion Post 243 and the VFW Post 6763 both of South Plainfield. He is pre-deceased by a son Drew Forgash who died in 1982 and by 1 brother and 2 sisters. Surviving are his wife Cassie (Snyder), 2 daughters Davida Sacco (Joe) of South Plainfield and Stephanie Albury (Bruce) of Lake Ariel, Pa., his son Richard (Bonnie) of South Brunswick, his daughter in-law Sherry Forgash of Long Island, and his 6 grandchildren; Joseph and Todd Sacco, Andrew Forgash, Jill and Drew Forgash, and Dylan Albury. Also surviving are 4 great grandchildren; Joseph, Jordan, Jenna, and Alexandra Sacco as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 3,2007 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery , Scotch Plains. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
