Obituary of Joan M. Daly

Joan Daly South Plainfield - Joan ( Macellara ) Daly, 53, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2009 in her home surrounded by family after a long and brave battle with cancer. Though born in Jersey City, Joan considered South Plainfield her hometown and lived there most of her life. She married the late Thomas Daly in 1983 and together they raised two sons. Joan was a devoted mother and an active participated in her boys' local sporting teams and organizations. Joan was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing in multiple local leagues. For the past 32 years, Joan has been employed by All-State Legal Supply Company of Cranford in the purchasing department but also considered herself a professional Giants and Yankees fan. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in July of 2008 and her parents, Carmine & Rosemary. Surviving are her beloved sons, Thomas J. Daly and his fiancé, Kathleen McEvoy and William M. Daly. Her three dear sisters; Gina Macan, Mary Dilley and her husband, Robert and Rita Nagy and her husband, Paul. Three much- loved brothers, and their wives; Bill & Carol, Joe & Debbie and Steve and Connie Macellara. Also surviving are eleven cherished nieces and nephews; Michelle, Kevin, Katelyn, Brian, Dana, Matthew, Brielle, Sara, Brooke, Courtney and John, as well as, many extended family & friends. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 9:15 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, followed by a 10:00 AM funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield, NJ. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield. Family & Friends are invited to attend the visitation hours on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
