William D. Brooks
South Plainfield - William D. Brooks, 82, died on Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Bill lived in New Providence prior to settling in South Plainfield 54 years ago.
Mr. Brooks attended Penn St. University where he earned both his B.S. Degree and his Master's Degree in Physics.
He worked for Bell Labs as an Applied Physicist for 30 years, retiring in 1989. During his career, Bill traveled all over the world and was able to experience various cultures and ways of life.
A die hard Penn St. football fan Bill was a Civil War connoisseur but more importantly he was a devoted family man.
In addition, he served with the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Surviving are his wife Marian (Fister) his 2 sons; Steven of South Plainfield and William and his wife Denise also of South Plainfield, his 3 grandchildren Deanna Seiple, Krissy Uhler and Nikki Brooks and his great granddaughter Holly Mae Seiple.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield and interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
