Phyllis J. Stoner
North Plainfield - Phyllis J. (Scheffler) Stoner, 77, died on Friday, December 21, 2007 at home.
Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Phyllis lived in South Plainfield and in Allison Park, PA., before settling in North Plainfield in 1972.
After graduating high school, she was employed by the H. H. Robertson Co. in Ambridge, PA., as a keypunch operator. In 1962 she and her family moved to South Plainfield where she was a homemaker and involved in Little League and Pop Warner youth sports organizations.
Six years later she and her family moved back to Pennsylvania where she was employed as a keypuch operator by the Aspinwall Waterworks Authority in Pittsburgh, PA., and later by Mobil Chemical Co.
In 1972, Mrs. Stoner and her family returned to New Jersey (North Plainfield) where she resided for the past 35 years. She worked for the Burroughs Corp. In Piscataway and Janssen Pharmaceutica in Piscataway before retiring in 1991.
Upon her retirement Phyllis traveled with her husband Henry while he was employed by The International Executive Service Corps. They often traveled to Alexandria, Egypt, San Isidrp, (Lima), Peru and Monterrey, Mexico. While at these locations she taught young children the art of crocheting while her husband assisted select companies to improve their production methods of paint and coating manufacturing.
Since 1997 she had been enjoying retirement being a homemaker.
In addition to her husband Henry, Mrs. Stoner is survived by her daughter Karen Stoner of Huntington Beach, CA., her son Larry Stoner and his wife Judy of Moon Twp. PA., and her brother Harry Scheffler and his wife Elaine of Beaver, PA. Also surviving are her 3 grandchildren; Kelly and Amy Stoner and Allison Sweetland.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 28, 2007 at 7:30 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield.
Cremation is private.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Muhlenberg Foundation, Inc., Park Ave. & Randolph Rd., Plainfield, NJ 07061.
