Anthony Massa South Plainfield, NJ - Anthony Massa, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Haven Hospice in the JFK Medical Center located in Edison. Born and raised in Cranford, NJ, he had resided in Linden before settling to South Plainfield 51 years ago. Mr. Massa served his county during WWII as a veteran of the US Navy. After fifteen years of employment, he retired in 1991 as the Buildings and Grounds Superintendent for the North Plainfield Board of Education. Mr. Massa was a member of the Cranford Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #335 and also served as a longtime Pop Warner Eagles Football Coach. Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Evelyn (Bolster), daughter, Susan Plews of Maryland and three sons, Philp and his wife Marilyn of Virginia Beach, VA., Anthony and his wife Pam of Flemington and James of South Plainfield. Also surviving are seven beloved grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum, Colonia, NJ. Family and friends, may attend the visitation hours on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cranford Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 335, 479 South Avenue, Cranford, NJ.
