"Proud father"
South Plainfield - Robert L. Harrington, died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, with his family at his side, after a hard fight against an aggressive cancer.
Born in Buffalo, New York, Bob grew up in Piscataway and moved to South Plainfield in 1988.
As the owner and operator of B & H Services, LLC, Bob was also a home remodeling specialist.
Bob was a long time coach with the South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club. Over the years he has given a great deal of time volunteering to benefit the youth of South Plainfield. Bob's abilities as a coach really shined when it came to the Traveling All Stars and being able to coach and help mentor the youth, but most importantly, his two sons, who made Bob so very proud. He is grateful for the friendships he has made while coaching and the assistance that so many have provided while Bob was battling his cancer.
In addition, Bob and his family are active communicants of Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield.
Predeceased by his father, John, he is survived by his wife, Liz (Abel ) Harrington, his sons, Bobby and Ryan. His mother, Rosemary Gallaher and his stepfather, Miles. His stepmother, Pauline Harrington, his two sisters and their husbands, Nancy and Donald Hynes and Cindy and George Hartobey. His brother, Lance and his wife, Bobbie Harrington, his sister in law, Debbie Masterton and her husband, Bob, and his three brothers in law and their wives, Bob and Teri Abel, Joe and Judy Abel and John and Sue Abel, and his mother in law and father in law, Phyllis and Joe Abel.
Also surviving are his 21 nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2007 in Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Family and friends are also invited to attend a memorial gathering on Sunday from 3-7 PM in the McCriskin Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Harrington Family Scholarship Fund, C/O P.O. Box 7221, Watchung, NJ 07069 or the Haven Hospice, C/O 65 James Street, Edison, NJ 08820.
