Obituary of Valentine B. Pures

Valentine B. Pures, 81, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the JFK Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in the Ironbound section of Newark, Mr. Pures enlisted in the U. S. Air Force serving from 1955 - 1959. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the City of Newark where he resided before settling to South Plainfield in 1973. Valentine was employed as a Firefighter for the City of Newark stationed at Truck 8 for 30 years retiring in 2000. An avid NASCAR fan, Mr. Pures enjoyed fishing, following all of our local professional sports teams and spending time with his family, especially their annual trip to Disney World in Florida. He is survived by his loving wife, Leona; daughter, Judith Pures of South Plainfield; son, Kenneth Pures (Patricia Fleming) of North Bergen; sister, Roberta Lubinski (Charles) of Union and grandson, Devin Kile (Kristen) of Columbia, SC. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080 beginning at 5pm followed by Funeral Services and the rendering of Military Honors beginning at 7:15pm. Cremation Services will be held privately.
