Obituary of Sophie Majorczak

Sophie (Wojcich) Majorczak passed away at home on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the age of 80, after a long battle with colon cancer. Sophie was born in Uniow, Poland in 1937 where she lived on a rural farm throughout her early childhood. Due to WWII and border changes, her family moved from Ukraine to Poland. After the tragic death of her father in 1942, her family was displaced and relocated to Lwow, Poland. The remainder of her childhood was spent living on a farm run by her mother, Marie. In 1961 Sophie came to the United States of America where she then met and married her late-husband, Michael Majorczak. The couple had two sons and lived in Irvington NJ, moving to Piscataway, NJ in 1966, until his death in 1987. Sophie remained in Piscataway and worked for Johnson & Johnson until her retirement after 28 years. She was a loving grandmother who enjoyed spending time gardening, tanning, shopping, and caring for others. Always the fashionista, she will be remembered for her stylish attire completed with a pair of high heels, no matter the occasion. Sophie had a contagious smile that will never be forgotten. Sophie was a communicant of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Dunellen, NJ. She is survived by her son, Michael Majorczak and wife, Debbie; son Robert Majorczak and wife, Dotti; her grandchildren, Natalie Bauza and husband Jonathan, Michael John Majorczak, Noelle Majorczak, Joseph Majorczak, and Jennifer Majorczak; and her great granddaughter, Zofia Bauza (her name sake). A viewing is scheduled for Thursday 4/26/18 from the hours of 4pm to 8 pm with a Parastas at 700 pm, Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd, Piscataway Township, NJ 08854. Additional visitation will also take place on Saturday 4/28/18 beginning at 9am in the funeral home prior to the Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial celebration at 10am at Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 121 Madison Ave, Dunellen, NJ 08812. Interment will take place immediately following the Divine Liturgy at St. Gertrude Cemetery, 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, NJ 07067.
