Obituary of Philip Ferrara

Piscataway, NJ - Philip Ferrara, 96, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Bridgeton, NJ to the late Sam and Concetta (Meli) Ferrara, Philip moved to Piscataway in 1975. Philip was honorably discharged from the United States Navy where he served his country proudly during World War II. He loved being a veteran and was proud to say he served upon the USS Kephart. He retired as a printer from Spaullici & Sons in Piscataway. He loved to listen to books on tape, he enjoyed time working out at the gym and was an excellent Italian cook. In his earlier years, he enjoyed swimming. Predeceased by his four sisters and his step-son Steven Walter Johnson, Philip leaves behind his loving wife Lorraine (Perrette) Ferrara, his three children; Linda Ferrara and Sammy, Amy Ferrara and Phyllis Visconti and her husband Anthony. He will be missed by his four grandchildren; Nicholas, Jenny Lynn, Samantha and Samuel as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854. A religious service will take place in the funeral home beginning 2:45 pm. On Monday, April 16, 2018, family and friends are invited to gather at Resurrection Burial Park for a 10:30 am graveside service with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions sent to the NJ State Library Talking Book and Braille Center, 2300 Stuyvesant Avenue, Trenton, NJ 08618 would be appreciated.
