Obituary of Brian S Spruill

Please share a memory of Brian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Brian Scott Spruill also known as "B" or better yet "B Smooth" for his long range three point shooting abilities in basketball. Brian, age 45, of Piscataway, NJ, passed away on October 2, 2024. Brian was born on October 31, 1978 in Trenton, NJ to Augustine and Edith Spruill.

Brian was educated in the Piscataway Public Schools where he met the love of his life, his wife, Kimberly Tillman Wade Van Jones Spruill. He has been devoted to her for 31 years, since they met in the lunch line at Piscataway High School.  Together they raised three beautiful children; Tiffany London Spruill (age 11), James Carter Spruill (age 8) and Courtney Elise Spruill (age 7).

After Brian graduated from Piscataway High School in 1997, he was accepted into Delaware State University where he majored in Accounting and Business Finance. After graduating from Delaware State, he settled back in Piscataway and began working as a tax accountant.  After working as a tax accountant, he fell in love with auditing and worked as a senior auditor until his passing. Brian was hard-working and dedicated. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions. In 2009 Kimberly and Brian took each other's hand in matrimony. After their wedding they purchased a home in the Lake Nelson section of Piscataway. They soon were blessed with three amazing children Tiffany, James, and Courtney.

Brian's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. At the young age of 7, Brian was a member of the Junior American Bowling League where he received an abundance of trophies, metals, and plaques. He played basketball on the Central NJ Jammers representing AAU of NJ, and during this time he and his team went on to win the state championship for New Jersey, which garnered public attention. He enjoyed basketball, bowling, baseball, football and coaching, often spending his weekends coaching tee ball and softball games of his beloved children. His love for baseball, basketball, and softball was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on them that will never fade. Along with coaching his children, he gave back to the community by volunteering his time coaching other children.  He coached many athletes within the township of Piscataway and Franklin, New Jersey. From Pop Warner Football, to recreation basketball, and travel softball, Brian shared his love and zest for sport in a caring and compassionate way that motivated teams to win many championships and awards

He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Kimberly; children, Tiffany, James and Courtney; his parents, Augustine and Edith Spruill, as well as a host of friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

We find comfort in knowing that Brian's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught his children, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
