Arthur Vernon Liming Jr., aged 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Middlesex. Born to Arthur V. Liming Sr., and Mildred (nee Clark,) on May 17, 1947, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was raised in Maywood, N.J., and attended  Bogota High School – Class of 1965. He received his B.S. in Chemistry in 1969 from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He earned his Masters Degree and APC in Chemical Engineering from New York University.

 

A proud veteran, Arthur achieved a Specialist 4 ranking during the Vietnam War. The SP4 rank was equivalent to a corporal and was typically earned by soldiers who had completed advanced training or demonstrated exceptional proficiency in their military occupational specialty. 

 

Art’s impressive career included working as a chemist and plant manager at American Cyanamid, Bound Brook, N.J.; Chemical Plant Manager at Bell Ray Industrial Lubricants, Wall Township; Chemical Plant Manager for CH2M Hill, Clark N.J.; Chemical Plant Manager Morton International, and served as consultant through Jacobs Engineering for dozens of corporations in more recent years. During his tenure in the field of chemical engineering Art was honored with multiple awards for exceptional achievement.

 

Active in his local community, Art was a member of the Jaycees of Middlesex, Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Knights of Columbus, Middlesex Borough Republican Organization, and served on the Middlesex Borough Board of Education.

 

An avid chess player, he was a proud lifetime member of the American Chess Federation and loved challenging family and friends to matches.  Arthur also loved spending summers at Otter Lake campground in Marshall Creek Pennsylvania, where he was often heard saying “It’s a beautiful day in God‘s country.”

 

Art’s other interests included coin collecting, stamp collecting, cruising to the Caribbean Islands and touring United States National Parks with his grandsons.  He loved playing pinochle and parcheesi with his wife Eileen.

 

Arthur is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Eileen (nee O’Malley,) daughter Karen Bissett and her husband Steve Hornblow of Basking Ridge, daughter Laurie Liming of Bedminster, son James and his wife Jennifer Liming of Bernardsville, his sister Ruth Hunter of Upper Saddle River, his beloved grandchildren Meghan, Thomas, Matthew, Aidan, Owen & Ashley, and his many nieces and nephews.
