Obituary of Catherine Diane Eggert
South Plainfield, NJ – Catherine D. Eggert, 62, passed away in the early hours of August 8, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville surrounded by her family. Born in Jersey City to Edward and the late Geraldine Eggert, Cathy lived in Hoboken until settling into South Plainfield in 1971.
Cathy was a Supply Chain Director for Robert Wood Johnson Barnabas Health in Rahway. At her workplace, Cathy was loved by many and made many strong and lasting friendships.
She was a generous, loving, supportive and selfless person who always put other people before herself, the kindest person you will ever meet. She loved being surrounded by her family, going to the beach, travelling and many trips to Florida. The beach, soaking up the sun and sunsets brought her much joy and were her favorite things. Cathy enjoyed life and people and lived it to the fullest.
Predeceased by her mother Geraldine in 2022, Cathy leaves behind her soul mate and best friend of over forty years, Danny MacDonald, her father Edward G. Eggert, her Aunt Alice and husband Bob Aiello, Aunt Sue and Kevin O’Brien and her siblings: Sharon Geczy and husband, John, Kim Strand and husband, Paul, Eddie and wife, Renee and Bobby and wife, Lisa and Keith and wife, Tina. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Jennifer Strand, Christine, John and Jerry Geczy, Anthony, Connor, Robert, Joshua, Rachel, Nathan, Gabby and Tyler Eggert, Stacy, Andrew and Kevin MacDonald, Andrea Reynolds, Shelly Dudus and David Reynolds and Stephanie and Frank Burke and the remainder of the MacDonald family; Bobby and Bert and his wife Kathy MacDonald, Dorothy Reynolds and Pete Mendez and James Burke; and loving cousins.
Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Sunday, August 11, 2024 from 2pm until 6pm and on Monday, August 12, 2024 beginning 10:00am.
A prayer service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 beginning 11:00am followed by private cremation. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Cathy’s name to the American Cancer Society (www.Cancer.org) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.Alz.org.)
