Obituary of Viola A. Burrell
Viola Burrell, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at Avalon Assisted Living in Bridgewater, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ to the late Earnest and Wanda Kingeter, Viola grew up in Harrison, NJ. At the age of 21, she married her husband Phillip Burrell, and the two settled in South Plainfield.
Viola raised her family at home, and then joined her husband at Advanced Machine Planning in Middlesex.
She quickly became very active in Sacred Heart Church. She was not only an active parishioner, but was also a member of the Rosary Alter Society, eventually leading the group for a period of time. Viola also volunteered at nursing homes through the church, and was a Eucharistic Minister.
Outside of the church, her friends and family were her true passion.
Predeceased by her husband Philip and children, Diane Jenkins and James Burrell, Viola is survived by her daughter Carol and her husband Randy Wheeler, and sons, Thomas Burrell and his wife Carmella, and Richard Burrell and his wife Frances. She will also be missed by her eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and brother, William Kingeter, along with a host of extended relatives and friends
A visitation will be held at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 3 PM to 7 PM.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart RC Church, 149 South Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the Funeral Home beginning at 9 AM.
Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 1734 Clinton Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Burrell Family has requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in Viola’s name.
