Obituary of Magdalena Zawadzki
Magdalena Seider Zawadzki “Leni”, 95, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024 at her daughter’s home in Piscataway.
A lifelong resident of South Plainfield, Leni moved in 1955 into the home she and her husband built with love and pride alongside friends and family. There she raised three children. As a youth she worked in local restaurants. Prior to marrying she was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark and fondly recounted her work there. After marrying she worked at Sears, Roebuck and Co. in their catalog department, worked the late shift at Hudson Cup factory in Carteret, was a matron at Sacred Heart School, and worked at Cornell Dubilier in South Plainfield to make ends meet.
Leni was active within the community. She belonged to the VFW Women’s Auxiliary 6763, Pastorius Home Association, and was a Life Member of the South Plainfield Polish National Home. In addition, she served as a volunteer to the Youth Employment Service, the former Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center (16.5 years), as well as the South Plainfield Food Pantry.
As a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church for 95 years. Mrs. Zawadzki participated and volunteered in many church/school functions and activities.
Leni enjoyed traveling, polka dancing, animals, nature, food, and her family’s native German dialect.
Predeceased by her husband of 62 years Henry and daughter Linda Przybowski, she is survived by her daughter, Teresa Seitzmeyer (Robert) of Piscataway; son, Henry of Flemington; grandchildren, Rebecca Seitzmeyer, Tracy Sesta (Mike), Michael Przybowski (Courtney) and Christopher Przybowski (Ariane) and great-grandchildren, Grace, Brian, Samuel, Julia, Shane, Matthew, Olivia and Logan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4-7pm with a 5:30pm funeral service in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 11am – 12pm in the funeral home.
Cremation services will take place privately.
The interment of both Mrs. & Mr. Zawadzki’s cremated remains will take place at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains privately.
