Obituary of Allen R. Stine
Allen R. Stine, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 8, 2024 at CareOne at Somerset Valley in Bound Brook. Allen was a lifelong resident of North Plainfield. After retirement, he moved to Whiting in 2001. He then returned back to the area, settling at the care center in 2020.
Right out of high school, Allen proudly served his country in the United States Army as a military police officer. He was honorably discharged in 1958 after three years of service. He went on to become a North Plainfield Police officer. Allen worked his way thru the ranks eventually becoming the Chief of Police. After a forty-one year career, Allen retired in 1995.
A graduate of North Plainfield High School, Allen played on the basketball team. He and his late wife Alice enjoyed spending time with each other at home and with family. He would sometimes be found playing cards with friends or on the golf course and at his children’s activities throughout their school years.
Predeceased by his wife of sixty-three years, Alice, and his brother Bob, Allen is also survived by his daughter Susan Colacci and her husband Michael of Middlesex and his sons, Douglas Stine and his wife Karen of Lebanon and Robert Stine and his wife Dawn of Honey Brook, PA. Allen is also survived by ten grandchildren, brother Bruce Stine and sister Lois Sheeler and her husband Fred.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 4pm until 6pm. A concluding prayer service will be held at 6pm. At the request of the family, cremation will follow privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinsons.org) would be appreciated.
