Obituary of Anna M. Holster
Ann was born January 22, 1932, in Ellenville, New York, the only child of Alfred and Frances (Micci) Lang. She passed peacefully on June 12, 2024, at the home of her daughter.
A child of the Depression and WWII, she had a modest upbringing surrounded by family and friends. At a young age, she moved to Clifton NJ where she spent her formative years. During those years she developed lifelong friendships as well as a passion for painting and her love of both roller skating and ice skating.
In 1950 she graduated from Clifton High and went to work at Dumont’s. While in High School she met her future husband, Bill, whom she married in 1951. A year later, she welcomed her first daughter followed by her second daughter in 1953. Five years later, they moved to Wayne, NJ.
Although, throughout her life, Ann periodically worked outside the home, her main occupation was that of Mother and Wife. Nurturing her daughters and caring for their home. As a young Mother, she was very involved in the girls’ activities and upbringing. She continuously involved them in many functions and outdoor family activities. Ann instilled in them strength, independence and principles that molded them into the women they became.
In 1970 they moved to Middletown, NJ then in 1983 they left NJ to relocate to Seaford, Delaware. She was thrilled to become “Grammy” when her first Granddaughter arrived in 1972. She would be followed by 2 more Granddaughters, 9 Great Grandchildren and finally her precious Great-Great Grandson in 2022, with whom she loved to play ball.
Ann was always very active in her church. Through her faith and her compassion for people, her home was always open. Over the years it was the center of gatherings for holiday dinners and family celebrations, as well as a haven of unconditional love for those in need.
Her passion for art and painting was present throughout her life. Her great sense of color and proportions were evident in her crafts, including her flower arranging and in her home decor.
When Ann’s husband suffered a debilitating coronary event, she mustered the courage to improve her education. She attended Dell-Tech to learn computer skills and obtain business certifications to increase her employment opportunities. Some years later, after losing her husband, Bill, she developed a companionship with a lifelong friend to share memories, travel and socialize.
She was the Matriarch of our family; her Grandchildren were her riches. She showered them with love and encouragement, and she beamed with pride at each one’s accomplishments.
Over the last few years, she lost a certain degree of independence due to her reduced mobility. But it wasn’t until this year that she joined the local Senior Center, which she loved! She found comfort and companionship there that brightened her spirit.
In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her Husband, William P. Holster; Sons-in-Law Anthony Savage and Emilio Carlucci and Brother-in-Law, Joel Danziger.
She is survived by her daughters Susan Savage and Pamela Carlucci; 3 Granddaughters Candy Caporale (Michael), Tina Henderson (Robert II) and Nicole Carlucci; 9 Great Grandchildren: Alex Caporale (Cheyanne), Stephanie Caporale, Annie Henderson, Robert Henderson III, Penny Henderson, Savanna Henderson, William Henderson, Cassie Henderson and Lexi Henderson; Great-great-grandson, Jackson Caporale; Sister-in-law, Jess Danziger and her 3 children and their families.
She truly had a life well lived! She will be forever loved and forever missed.
Gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mount Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 from 12pm until 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ann’s memory to Nanticoke Senior Center 1001 W. Locust St., Seaford, DE 19973.
