Obituary of Ena Baijnath
Ena Baijnath, 83, passed away on March 7, 2024 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Berbice, Guyana, Ena has lived in Blairmount and Letter Kenny, Guyana before immigrating to the United States. Ena spent a majority of her life in New York prior to settling in Plainfield.
Ena worked as a switchboard operator at the Elmsfor Arms in NY and then at Home Depot in Watchung. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint, crocheting, decorating and baking, but above all things, her favorite time spent was with her family.
Ena leaves behind her loving children; Lloyd Sookhu of Dix Hills, NY, Jimmy Sookhu of Edison, Henry Sookhu of Deer Park, NY, Desery Sookhu of Freeport, NY, Raj Sookhu and his wife Indira Valencia Sookhu of South Plainfield and Yogi Sookhu of Fort Lee. She will be deeply missed by her grandson Kyle Sooku, brother Samuel Baijnath Loxahatchee, FL and sister Iris Naiken.
At Ena’s request, no public services will be held. A private gathering for her family was held at Rosehill Crematory Chapel in Linden.
