Obituary of Edith Fitzsimmons

Edith (Gallo) Fitzsimmons, 94, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Bridgeway Care Center in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

Born in Harrison, New Jersey to the late Anthony and Carmella Gallo, Edith was a long time resident of South Plainfield, finally residing in Hillsborough, New Jersey.

Edith worked in Borough Hall for many years as well as Sears in Watchung, where she retired in 1991.   

Devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Edith is survived by her six children, James Fitzsimmons (Martha),Jayne Fitzsimmons, Anne M. Yoson (John), Michael Fitzsimmons (Kim), Thomas Fitzsimmons (Jeanne), and Catherine Fitzsimmons; her nine grandchildren; her six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephew.

Predeceased by her husband, Alexander Fitzsimmons, who passed away in 1994, siblings, Charlotte Lucy, Margaret Cicchino, Lena Dreker, Ann Sykes, Gloria Maffia, and long-time companion Bill Jacobs.  

The life of the party, Edith loved her family and friends.  Edith had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh.  Spending time with her loved ones was always a priority.  Her next passion was travelling.  Always an avid camper, Edith and her husband spent many years camping up and down the East Coast.  Moreover, later in life, Edith loved her trips to Atlantic City and enjoyed the beaches of both New Jersey and Florida.
