Obituary of William J. Goehring

Edison, NJ – William J. Goehring, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark to the late William M. and Rachel (Romaine) Goehring, he lived in Winfield Park for four years prior to settling in Edison in 1973.

Bill served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1963 after four years of service. He went on to become an Electrician and retired from General Motors in Linden.

He enjoyed golf, shooting, hunting and fishing but had a passion for designing and hand crafting wooden decoy ducks. During the winter months, he and his wife would spend their time down in Florida.

Predeceased by three sisters; Joan, Carol and Gail, Bill leaves behind his wife of 60 years Patricia Ann (Dreher) Goehring, daughter Lorie Smith and her husband Sean of Somerset as well as three grandchildren; Kirsten, William and Kyle.

Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 3pm until 7pm and on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 beginning 9:30am. Funeral services will begin 10:00am in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2024 followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
