Obituary of Joan Curcio
Joan “Dolly” Curcio (Evert) passed away at home early Tuesday morning January 30, 2024 at the age of 91.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Mrs. Curcio resided in the Arbor Section of Piscataway prior to settling to South Plainfield in the mid 1970’s.
Dolly served as head cook for the South Plainfield High School from the mid 1970’s until her retirement in the mid 1990’s.
She served on the Women’s Auxiliary for the former Arbor Rescue Squad as well as the Women’s Auxiliary for the Arbor Fire Department.
Additionally, Dolly served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad, South Plainfield Pop Warner Women’s Auxiliary, South Plainfield Junior Baseball Club Women’s Auxiliary and the South Plainfield High School Booster Club.
Predeceased by her husband Richard, two sister and two brothers, Dolly is survived by her daughters, Dawn Gilbert and her husband Robert of PA., Tammy Nicastro of South Plainfield; her sons, James and his wife Jane of South Plainfield, Richard and his wife Cheryl of Charleston, SC. and Gary and his wife Patricia of South Plainfield; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10:45AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave South Plainfield, NJ 07080 followed by a 11AM funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield.
Immediately following the funeral mass, Dolly will be laid to rest alongside her late husband Richard at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4-8pm in the funeral home.
