Obituary of George L. Heilmann
George L. Heilmann, 85, died peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Lincoln Park Care Center.
George was born and raised in Newark, where he met his wife of 58 years, Rose Marie (nee Barbarino) where they began their family and then moved to the City of Elizabeth. The pair retired to Florida then relocated to Quakertown, PA for many years to be closer to family.
George served with the United States Navy during peacetime until his honorable discharge in 1961. A hardworking man, George owned and operated GH Ceiling Company. While the company was in operation, he employed many of his own family members and taught them the craft as well. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family or friends in need. George also loved to go crabbing and teach others how to catch bushels full of crabs. He loved to dance, especially with his lovely wife Rose, but would pull anyone on the dance floor to have a great time!
Predeceased by his son, George Heilmann Jr. and son in law, John Roesch, surviving is his wife, Rose Heilmann, two daughters, Donna Heilmann and Ranae Roesch and his sisters, Theresa Blanar and Caroline Brooks. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Jenny Marie Lewis (Rich), Barry Sturgis (Veronica), John Roesch Jr. (Kelly), Brian Roesch (Anna), Matthew Roesch (Ashley), Joshua Roesch, Tyler Heilmann and Justin Heilmann as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather at the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080 on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 4-8PM.
Funeral services will begin at 9AM in the McCriskin Gustafson Home For Funerals followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart RC Church, South Plainfield at 10AM.
Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
