Obituary of Richard T. Leitgeb
Richard T. Leitgeb, 61, formerly of Garfield and South Plainfield suddenly passed away on January 3, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Passaic, New Jersey to his loving parents Richard and Emilie Leitgeb, Richard spent his youth in Garfield and graduated from Kean University with a degree in Computer Science. He settled to Bridgewater with his beloved wife of 31 years, Theresa (Daly) where the pair enjoyed hosting many happy and memorable family gatherings always being centered around Richard’s favorite desert, homemade raspberry ice cream pie. Richard also enjoyed being hosted by the Daly Family of South Plainfield, which became his second home. Within the past few years, Richard retired to Florida where he fulfilled his lifelong dream of kicking back and enjoying retirement.
His first job was at Foodtown in Garfield followed by a long successful career at AT&T and most recently at United Healthcare as a Project Manager and Systems Analyst. Known to his family as the computer guru, he was always more than willing to share his expertise and guide of all things technical. He was also the center of his family, especially when the family gathered for the holidays and special events. Richard was a profoundly kind and loving man who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Richard was an avid fisherman, Cowboys and Mets fan, train enthusiast, and will always be remembered as a devoted husband, son, brother, and uncle. He was known for his hard work ethic, kind and generous heart and deep devotion to his family. Heaven has gained a true ray of light.
Richard was predeceased by his loving parents Emilie and Richard.
He is survived by his loving wife Theresa Leitgeb; two sisters Diana Czergovits and her husband George and Linda Albecker and her husband Ray as well as his nieces and nephews; Matthew and Nicole Czergovits and RJ, Joe, and Leah Albecker and Thomas and William Daly. As well as by his two faithful, furry companions Louie and Lady.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 9:30AM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield NJ 07080 followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church at 10:30AM.
Richard will be laid to rest in Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
Family and friends may gather in the Funeral Home on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 3-7PM.
