Obituary of Shawn Smith
Shawn Maurice Smith was born April 14, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York to Delores & Robert Smith. He grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey and had been a resident of Piscataway New Jersey for the past 30 years.
Shawn leaves behind his wife Elizabeth “Lisa” Smith and their children, Zabreenah, Alexis, and Simone. He leaves behind his one grandson, Jrue Hodge aka “King” and by his two brothers Larry and Michael Smith. Additionally, he is survived by a plethora of nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts.
Shawn made a career for himself as a chemical operator and loved what he did. He enjoyed watching his Knicks and Giants every time they played. Additionally, he loved Second St and the community he built there.
On December 10, 2023, Shawn Smith passed away surrounded by his loved ones at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick after a battle with cancer. Although cancer took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the community.
Relatives and friends will be gathering for the visitation and funeral service on Saturday, December 16, 2023 beginning at 10:30am in Piscataway Funeral Home 18 Stelton Rd. Piscataway, NJ 08854. Immediately following the funeral service, Shawn will be laid to rest at Rosehill Cemetery, Linden, NJ
