Obituary of Donald Serido
Donald Nicholas Serido, 85, passed away at home surrounded by family on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
He was born in Plainfield, NJ and was raised in the East End neighborhood. After marrying in 1960, Don lived with his wife Sally in North Plainfield where they raised their family before relocating to South Plainfield in 1990.
Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Following his active duty service, Don became a Fireman for the City of Plainfield, retiring as a Lieutenant after his 20 years of service.
A diehard Yankees fan, he loved to talk about all the players he watched over the years. Don enjoyed playing the ponies and taking trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Most of all, he truly cherished watching his 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson grow, learn, and play. Hide and Seek and Rock Teacher were his favorite games to keep them entertained. They affectionately called him Poppa Don and Pop Pop.
He is survived by his wife Sally of 63 years and his sons, the 3 D’s. Don and his wife Jeanie of Great Falls, Montana; Dan, Dave and his wife Stephanie of South Plainfield; sister, Barbara Brick of North Plainfield; grandchildren, Donna, Joe, Nicholas, Angela, Samantha, Anthony, Abbey, Braedon, Kendall and great grandson, Maverick.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 2-6PM in the McCriskin – Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Cremation Services will take place privately.
