Obituary of Chan-Kuei Liu
Piscataway, NJ – Chan-Kuei Liu, 87, died on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Embassy Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Edison. Born in Hebei, China to the late Tseng-Shu Liu and Fu-Tu Kao, Chan-Kuei immigrated to Taipei, Taiwan when he was twelve years old. He lived in Taipei for the majority of his life with his wife and three children. After retirement, Chan-Kuei immigrated to the United States in 2014 and settled to Piscataway with his wife.
He was a professor of Chinese Literature and political philosophy. He taught in Tamkang University and Taiwan Police College, both in Taipei, Taiwan for many years. He took immense pride to teaching and not only was he dedicated to higher education; he earned a Master’s Degree on the study of Three Principles of the People and the founding philosophies of the government of Republic of China and has published several books on the topic.
Though he was quiet by nature, Chan-Kuei would light up when he had the opportunity to share stories of history and his scholarly pursuits. In his younger years, he was an avid gardener and grew beautiful flowers at his home in Taipei. He wrote books of poetry, practiced calligraphy and sketched nature scenes. Chan-Kuei enjoyed playing the harmonica, basketball, ping-pong and more. Later in life, he loved to spend time traveling and never missed an opportunity to be with his family and grandchildren.
Chan-Kuei leaves behind his loving wife Ling-Ling Yang and their children; Brenda Liu and Ryan Cheung of Bayside, NY, Kimberly Ng and her husband Steven of Bridgewater and Sandy Moreau and her husband Michael of Warren as well as his two grandchildren; Kaitlyn Ng and Aiden Moreau.
A memorial gathering honoring Chan-Kuei will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.
