Hollica Délice

New Brunswick, NJ – Hollica Délice, 49, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Newark
Beth Israel Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the
late Myrtha Chéry and Jean Christian Louis, Hollica and her family immigrated to the United
States in 2011, and they settled in New Brunswick in 2022.
In Haiti, Hollica studied at Institution des Philosophes Réunis, learned the seamstress trade, and
worked side by side with her husband to provide for their family. In the United States, Hollica
worked as a school custodian and as a home health aide.
She is remembered for her staunch support of her family, her tasty cooking, her ability to make
people laugh, even managing to be as active as she could despite the effects of her illness. She
never felt sorry for herself. She was more interested in making a difference to the people
around her.
Predeceased by her brother, Richard Louis, and her daughter, Edwin Délice, Hollica leaves
behind her husband Edner; their daughters: Tamara Délice-Lubin (Lovensky B. Lubin), Christler
Délice, Hacheley Délice (Carlos Michel), and their son Alexander Delice, and their
granddaughter Mia Michel.
She is also survived by her sisters: Yola Louis (Darbouse Baptiste), Colette Louis (Alex), Marie-
Rica Louis, and Yline Louis. Her nieces and nephews are: Remyline Gabriel, Junito Gabriel, Jean-
Francois “Frantz” Ricardo, Betina Francois, Jhonsley Michel, Nyrva LaFleur, Wilcholson Chéry,
Reina Chéry, and Ross Michel. Her cousins are: Ginette Joseph, Mirlande Chéry, Lolita Joseph,
Aline Simon, Marie Pierre, and Nicole Chéry.
On her husband’s side, she is survived by her in-laws, Edmond and Jacqueline Délice. Her
siblings-in-law are Evelyne Joseph, Kareen Délice-Kircher (Christian Kircher), Onesiphane Délice,
Marie Délice, and Daniel Délice (Vanessa Lemanski) with their sons Dominic and Nicolas. Hollica
is survived also by a host of additional family members and relatives.
Visitation will be held at South Plainfield Funeral Home, 2456 Plainfield Avenue, South
Plainfield, NJ 07080 (white building located next to the police department and across the
street from Citizens Bank) on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5 PM to 8 PM and on Saturday
beginning at 8:00 AM.
Funeral services will begin at 8:45 AM in the funeral home on Saturday, August 26, 2023
followed by a 9:30 AM funeral mass at St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church in New Brunswick.
Hollica will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery located in Scotch Plains.
