Obituary of Juanita M. Saylo
Piscataway, NJ – Juanita M. Saylo, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at her home in Piscataway.
Born in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Juanita spent her early years in the Philippines. She attended St. Louis University in Baguio City, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
In the Philippines, as an accountant, Juanita worked on Camp John Hay and Clark Air Base, both of which are US Military Bases.
In 1979, she immigrated to the US, settling in Piscataway. She has been a long time resident and worked for Union Carbide once in America. When it came time to start a family, she changed careers and started working as a clerk for the United States Postal Service in Edison and retired in 2013.
Outside of work, she was a long time parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church located in Piscataway. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and cooking. With aspirations to travel internationally, she cherished her time spent traveling throughout the United States and the international trips she was able to take.
A mother at heart, she always looked forward to family gatherings, cooking traditional Filipino dishes, and helping family with any type of financial guidance, whether it was taxes or financial investing. Always accepting family and friends into her home with open arms, she never let anyone leave without having a meal, either eating it at her home or taking it to go.
Juanita will also be remembered for her charitable donations. She always donated to the National Shrine of St. Jude’s Claretian Missionaries, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Salvation Army, and National Geographic.
Predeceased by her parents, Flora and Cresildo and siblings, Zozimo, Panchoreno, and Domingo, Juanita is survived by her two sons, Ronald and Robert Saylo, and their father Rolando. She will also be missed by her siblings Constancia, Bonifacio, Julieta, Victoria, Gloria, Cesar, and Cristina, her many nieces and nephews, extended relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ, on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 4 PM to 8 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church, 208 Bound Brook Ave, Piscataway, NJ, on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10 AM. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 9 AM.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, 899 E Lincoln Ave, Piscataway, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Shrine of St. Jude’s Claretian Missionaries, in Juanita’s name.
